Travel Ideas When Visiting San Francisco

July 28th, 2010 by

Are San Francisco tourism numbers increasing and are people traveling again, or are they continuing to stay at home or close to home as a result of the economy and the need to save money? You might assume the latter, since the perception that people don’t have much in the way of a disposable income is the common lament, and if this is what you are thinking you will surely be surprised to find out otherwise.

The truth is domestic leisure traveling, according to the experts, is expected to increase this year by about 2 percent, and travel spending is expected to rise by up to 5 percent. Consumer confidence is riding and so too is disposal income for many.

So could the city of San Francisco be poised to benefit from this increase in travel? Certainly the possibility exists, if for no other reason than the recognition of San Francisco being a natural destination for tourists.

Downtown and the Fisherman’s Wharf area is a prime tourist destination with lots to eat, drink, and see, from street performers to historic ships and submarines. This is also where the boats the tour the bay and take the curious to Alcatraz.

Over in Marin County and just to the north of the city is the Muir Woods. This is an amazing place where both the old and the young get to experience the majesty of nature in a well maintained park that is eager to host tourist groups of all sizes.

And certainly the Golden Gate, the majestic landmark that traverses the bay and opens up to the Pacific Ocean, will be on the top of everyone’s list, whether crossing by car, bike, or on foot.

No doubt the city of San Francisco is more than ready to benefit from the increased travel by tourists, and it is prepared to provide the vacation of a lifetime for those that take advantage of all it has to offer.
